Birds of a feather

Leigh Wells, a beautiful model, approached me to take some beauty shots for her portfolio. She loved and wanted to use the concept of peacock feathers, as inspiration for the shoot.

So, I contacted Jana Kriel of Jana Kriel Make-up straight away as her work is breath-taking and stunning. Jana is just great to work with and so professional, she provided us with a face chart, so we had an idea of what the make-up would look like and could have some input. However, that was not necessary as her plan was awesome and we totally loved it (it looked even better in real life).

After we had the make-up face chart and a concept in mind, we all went off and looked for some peacock feathers and earrings to include in the shoot. Luckily, we managed to find and they really added to the shoot. I must just put it out there that peacock feathers really are beautiful.

On the day of the shoot (last week Saturday), it was freezing, as the cold front had blown in. Leigh somehow braved the cold, stripped down to her thin little tee and we got started. I was totally mesmerised by Leigh’s eyes, as they are such an incredible and extraordinary reddish brown colour.

Unfortunately, we did not have very long for the shoot. However, I think we got some really awesome shots and hope Leigh and Jana are as pleased with them, as I am.

A touch of vintage

I was recently contacted by a lovely lady, Wasfiyya, for a photo shoot. She had recently immigrated to the USA but was back in SA for a wedding, so we set-up the shoot for while she is here.

She brought along the cutest white dress, which she obviously bought overseas ;) The first thing that came to mind when I saw it was romantic vintage…so I kept everything soft and feminine…which really suited her look. I edited with a slight vintage flare which I think added to the images.

I totally love the outcome…just shows…you don’t need to be in lingerie to get beautiful boudoir inspired images.

A little bit of fun

This week-end, I blackmailed my friend, Candice, so she would come over and take some photo’s of me. As I needed to submit a landscape photo to Spice4Life (I am sure you will see and hear more about this at a later date). There obviously had to be payment involved, so I cooked dinner for her and her husband…I say I but in fact my boyfriend, Garith cooked the dinner as I was editing the photo’s :)

Basically, I set-up the lights for Candy and left her to go crazy – I must say I expected more instruction than she gave me because when I photograph her…I give her lots of  instructions…the joys of friendship…hehe.

However, it was great fun and I love the pics that we got. I still prefer to be behind the lens than in front of it. Although, I think I have a new found respect for models – it is hard work looking this good all the time…hehe.

These are the three images that I liked the most. I thought I would include different edits, just to make it fun…check out the last one – love it – so me! hehe!

Again, I would like to thank Candy for all her help and patience, not only with the photo shoot but with everything else as well! Love u lots xxx

And an edit for my retro side – just love the colours and look of this…makes me feel so vintage and 70′s…so my style!

Missy H

I recently photographed the sassy, Missy H. She was such fun to work with as she has a real quirky sense of humour that just lends itself to mine. Therefore, we had a ball and chatted more than I photographed…hehe! However, managed to get some nice shots ;)

The only thing I had to work on was to get her to smile as she has such a stunning smile that lights up her whole face. So after lots of cheesy jokes, I managed to capture a few smiles :)

Her awesome make-up was done by Jana Kriel of Jana Kriel Makeup. Her work is so stunning – she used such a beautiful colour on Missy H’s eyes – totally loved the look!  Thanks Jana…your work is fantastic :)

Belle Oie

Photographed the beautiful and sexy Miss G a few weeks ago.

She is also a very talented pole dancer…I think it shows in the images as she can move her body in ways I certainly can’t…hehe :)

Her breath-taking make-up was done by Jana Kriel of Jana Kriel Makeup. Her work is so fab – totally love the colours she used here, really makes Miss G’s eye pop! Thanks Jana…you rock :)

Like, Write and Win

It is that time of year – we want to stay huddled up at home by the heater. So why not do it with ur laptop or in front of your pc, where you can be on Facebook. Then you can enter the Pretty Boudoir competition, which could win you a photo shoot worth R2 500!

How it works : Round up all your friends, get them to like my page and write the following on my timeline : ‘(Your Name) referred me’ and you could win. If of course you have the highest number of referred friends :)

However, there is one catch : you have to be based in Joburg or able to get here on your own. As the photo shoot will be in Joburg and unfortunately Pretty Boudoir will not be supplying transport or accommodation to get to the shoot, that is for your own account.

Entries close on the 31st August at 12h00 – so get liking and writing to win!

Miss Michelle

Last week-end I did a shoot with the gorgeous Miss Michelle. She seemed so quiet and reserved when she arrived but as we started the shoot I saw her cute and cheeky little smile – which was just a must to capture!

Had a fantastic shoot, despite the extremely cold weather – thank goodness for gas heaters, kept me and Michelle warm :)

Her make-up was done by the fabulous Jana Kriel of Jana Kriel Makeup. I was so impressed with Jana’s work. It was beautiful. Any ladies looking for a MUA for a shoot or their wedding – get hold of Jana!

Miss P

I met Miss P about a year or so ago and have always wanted to do a boudoir shoot with her (as I just love her tats) so when she agreed, I was over the moon! And if I do say so myself, the pics are smoking hot! She looks amazing!

Miss P was such fun to work with and shoot. She is so easy going and filled with great ideas and concepts. The first two images below are of her braving the outside garden area in her very sexy lingerie. Even though the sun was a little harsh, we got some wonderful pics.

Her stunning make-up was done by Shandre - so a big thank you as it looked awesome!

What lingerie are you?

When I think about lingerie…for me each piece has its own unique look, feel and personality. We are normally drawn to the lingerie that we are most comfortable in, makes us feel and look great by enhancing our assets and character. These pieces normally share some or all of our personality traits.

We don’t all share the same perception when it comes to lingerie, therefore, a negligee may not be seen in the same way and light to you as it is to me. I may see it as romantic, while you may think it is sensual. Neither of these are incorrect, the traits are similar but sightly different, giving each of us our own unique perception of how we view and feel about lingerie.

I came across this blog post – What’s Your Lingerie Personality, which got me thinking and thus inspired this post : if I had to classify my boudoir photography style as a piece of lingerie what would you be?

I had to think about this for a while, because in my mind I was two very different pieces, and I was trying to figure out how they fit together…after a while I realised that they can go together and actually compliment and bring out the best in each other. My style is both a corset, which I see as sexy, edgy, bold & curvy; and a baby doll, which I perceive as soft, feminine and pretty. I know these seem like complete opposites yet somehow they mash up, compliment each other and make up my style.

So what lingerie are you?

Some Food for the Soul

Last week I had so much fun doing a spicy food shoot for Bandito’s,  which was organised by Celeste Hewett from CH Communications.

The recipes were developed, prepared and cooked by Tantalizing Taste Events, who also hosted the shoot at their premises in Midrand. The dishes were styled by Taryne Jakobi.

If you are wanting to spice up your dishes at home, why not try out any of the Bandito’s products, they are divine. You must check out their website to get some of these yummy recipes so you too can make these dishes – the Jalapeno, bacon and cheddar corn bread is to die for – I have already made it 4 times since I tasted it Wednesday last week.

Below is a selection of images from the day :
